The website’s server hit a bug. Not you.

Cloudflare reached the website, but the website’s own software failed while building the page. If the site is overloaded it clears in minutes. If it is a bug, it lasts until the owner fixes it.

What to do about a 500

  1. Try again in a minutereload once, not twenty times.
  2. Try a different page on the same sitethe bug may be on this page only.
  3. Tell the site owner.Copy the report below; the Ray ID tells them exactly which request failed.

Nothing on your side causes this. VPN, cookies and browser do not matter here.

500 — if you run this site

  1. An unhandled exception in the site’s application
  2. A misconfigured server (PHP, .htaccess, permissions)
  3. Database connection failures under load

Read the origin’s error log; Cloudflare only passes the 500 through. Fix the application, and consider showing a custom error page.
