The website’s server sent back garbage. Not you.

Cloudflare reached the website, but the answer it got was invalid or came from a broken proxy in front of the site. Often it clears within minutes when a service restarts. If not, the owner has to fix it.

What to do about a 502

  1. Try again in a minutereload once, not twenty times.
  2. Try another networkswitch between Wi-Fi and mobile data.
  3. Tell the site owner.Copy the report below; the Ray ID tells them exactly which request failed.

Nothing on your side causes this. VPN, cookies and browser do not matter here.

502 — if you run this site

  1. The origin’s reverse proxy (nginx, Apache) cannot reach the application behind it
  2. The application crashed or is restarting
  3. An upstream service the site depends on failed

Check the origin’s own proxy logs: a 502 at Cloudflare usually mirrors a 502 the origin generated itself.
